Acupressure

Acupressure is an ancient Asian healing art using the fingers to gradually press key healing points, which stimulate the body’s ability to heal and restore balance.  Acupressure was developed in China over 5,000 years ago.  Acupuncture and acupressure use the same pressure points and meridians (energy channels), but Acupuncture employs needles, while Acupressure uses gentle to firm finger pressure. When these acupressure points are stimulated, they release muscular tension, decrease pain, promote circulation of blood, and enhance the body’s life force energy to aid healing.  MRI studies now show that stimulation of these acu-points causes distinct changes in the stress nervous system and brain that calm the body and quiet over-activity.
